Tours
Panama
is blessed with a spectacular natural and cultural heritage.
Moreover, some of the most interesting natural environments,
historic sites and culturally rich areas are all reached from
Panama City on a day tour. Ancon Expeditions offers a select
list of day tours to travelers who plan to base their trips out
of Panama City or in combination with short adventures or longer
duration programs.
Aboard
an expedition boat explore the waters of the Panama Canal
through coves and inlets in search of wildlife including
countless species of birds, reptiles and several species
of monkeys. The most comfortable and accessible way
to discover the natural attributes of the Panama Canal
watershed
Soberania
National Park is considered to be one of the most accessible
areas for bird watching and wildlife observation in Central
America. Pipeline Rd. is world famous among birdwatchers
and nature enthusiasts due to its high yield in terms of
wildlife diversity.
A
perfect opportunity to visit an indigenous village in the
midst of an exceptionally wonderful natural setting that
supports in harmony their lifestyle and traditions.
On
August 15, 1914 the SS Ancon made the first official ocean
to ocean transit through the Panama Canal. This event,
that soon proved to have changed the world forever, was
possible thanks to the labor of more than 75,000 men and
women who worked for 10 years facing unprecedented challenges.
The
Panama Canal partial tour starts with an early morning pick
up at our hotel in Panama City for a 15 minute drive to the
Port of Balboa in the Pacific side of the canal, where we
board a comfortable passenger ferry. We will first sail under
the bridge of the Americas, which raises over 100 meters
above sea level and reunites the land divided during construction
of the canal forming another link in the Pan-American Highway.
Half-day
morning tour includes a visit to the ruins of Old Panama
and Casco Viejo (the old city compound) which dates from
the late 1600's. A bilingual guide will describe the events
in history leading up to the eventual movement of the capital
city to its present location.
