America, the Darien is still as intriguing as it was

the area in search of riches and ultimately a passage
to the Pacific Ocean. The 60,000-acre Punta Patiño
Nature Reserve is the largest private natural protected
area in Central America and it is part of the Darien
National Park complex of preserved lands.
Within
Punta Patiño there are marine and coastal environments,
wetlands, rivers, secondary growth forests and primeval
rainforests, as well as Embera indigenous communities.
The Punta Patiño Lodge is located atop a bluff
overlooking the Pacific Ocean to the South and surrounded
by the natural splendor of the area. It's 10 well appointed
cabins are air-conditioned and have private bathrooms.
A dinning hall and a chapel dating back to the early
20th century are all part of the lodge's facilities.
